From the Field

Built by a Working Contractor: The Home-Service Business Behind NailLedger

Most field-service software is built by people who used to watch contractors work. Mine was built by one who's still out there working.

I own Temptation Designs, a declutter and organizing company in the Denver south metro — Highlands Ranch, Parker, Littleton, and the neighborhoods around them. Whole-home organizing, garage reclaims, closets, downsizing, move prep. Real clients, real houses, real deadlines — a lot of them tied to real estate listings, where "we'll get to it next week" isn't in the vocabulary.

NailLedger exists because running that company the old way was eating my evenings. I didn't build it to leave the field. I built it to ease my job in it.

Every feature is a scar from a real job

Nothing in this app is theoretical. The pipeline — Lead → Design → Bid → Track → Invoice — is the exact path every Temptation Designs job walks:

  • The bid document is called an Investment Summary, because that's what I hand my own clients. A homeowner isn't buying hours; they're investing in their home. The wording matters because I've watched it land across a kitchen table.
  • The photo-driven workflow exists because organizing is a visual sell. A client deciding whether to reclaim a garage needs to see the finished space. That became Vision Preview — render the finished job from the before photo.
  • Flat pricing — $29/mo, no per-seat tax — exists because I've been the little guy reading a competitor's pricing page with a calculator, watching the number climb for every person I add.
  • Donation and haul-off tracking is in the flow because half of decluttering is logistics: what gets donated, what gets hauled, what the client keeps. Paperwork after the job was where my money leaked. Now it's built while I'm still standing there.

Why this should matter to you

When you hand your business to software, you're trusting the people who built it to understand your day. My day is a truck, a phone, a client who needs a price before I leave the driveway, and invoices that can't wait until Sunday night.

Temptation Designs is still running, still booking, still reviewed by real clients in the Denver metro. NailLedger is the tool that came out of it — designed on job sites, priced for the little guy, and shaped by the same work you're doing this week.

If you're vetting us, don't just read this blog. Go look at the business. It's real, and it's the reason this app works the way it does.
